MISSION STATEMENT
To share our Christian faith in word and action; reaching out to support those in our community and beyond who are in any kind of need. To develop support services to older people and people with dementia and their carers
Sunday worship takes place at 1pm. The service lasts approximately 45 minutes and all are welcome.
We have level access into the Church with spaces reserved for those who use wheelchairs and for buggies. We have a loop system for those who are hard of hearing and there is a limited amount of parking within the Church grounds.
We have a worship team who share in leading worship along with the Minister.
The Sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of Feb, June and October as well as Easter Sunday.
Prior to the coronavirus pandemic we had regular links with young people in local schools including the choir of Victoria Park School. Unfortunately, at present there are limits on what is possible – but we look forward to sharing with pupils from Carluke Primary and Victoria Park when it is safe to do so.
We also led monthly worship in Milton Grange Nursing home prior to the Coronavirus pandemic but again that has not been possible at present.
We continue our support for young people in the town through Streetlevel, our joint Churches youth project where Jim McIntyre our Project Leader reaches out to support young people- working closely with Universal Connections (South Lanarkshire Council) Street Level Carluke – Street Level Carluke
St Andrew’s is a FairTrade church and actively promotes and tries to use fairly traded products in the church. We participate in Fairtrade Fortnight each year and encourage members and friends to buy fairly traded products now widely available in the shops Home – Fairtrade Foundation
In partnership with Get Walking Lanarkshire we offer a weekly ‘Health Walk’ which leaves the church grounds at 10.30am every Monday morning.
The walk is a maximum of 1 hour and provides the opportunity to enjoy the fresh air and the company of others. You might also enjoy seeing new areas of Carluke! The social aspect of the walk is important and all are welcome. No special clothing needed, just sensible shoes and a waterproof if it is wet!
Guild
The Guild meets in the large hall fortnightly on a Thursday afternoon from 1.45pm to 3pm.
Men and women are welcome to all the meetings. Sometimes there is a speaker but there is always the opportunity for a cuppa and a chat and you can be assured of a warm welcome. If you’d like further information about the Guild please get in touch.
St Andrew’s is a member of Age Scotland – and you can find lots of really helpful information on their website or by phoning their helpline Age Scotland | Working with and for older people in Scotland (ageuk.org.uk)
Since 2012 St Andrew’s has provided support for people living with dementia and unpaid carers of people living with dementia (including people living with early onset dementia)
We began face to face meetings again in May last year using two Gazebos outside in our grounds – but we have now moved back into our large hall.
We offer support now three times every week
