Crafted with 100% epoxy and heavy carbon reinforcement, the Balance 580 is longer, leaner, and faster than any of Balance’s smaller models. She’s not just sleek—she’s strong. The all-epoxy build, closed-cell foam core hulls, and handcrafted wood foam-core furniture make her the lightest catamaran in her class, yet she offers an unrivaled level of interior volume and storage.

As Phil Berman, founder of Balance Catamarans, puts it:

Balance Team Rides the Cape Town Cycle Tour!

At Balance Catamarans, adventure is in our DNA—whether we’re sailing the open seas or taking on new challenges on land. This past weekend, our team traded the waves for the road, pushing through 109km of breathtaking coastline, thrilling climbs, and electrifying energy at the Cape Town Cycle Tour – the world’s largest cycle tour. There were just over 30,000 participants and it was absolutely stunning. .

A Community United by Passion

This wasn’t just any ride—it was a true gathering of the Balance family. Our team included Balance staff from the USA, Cape Town, and St. Francis Yards, along with current and future Balance Owners. We were also proud to ride alongside our valued partners and suppliers: du Toit Yacht Design, Ullman Sails, Fused Composites, Integrel Solutions, and Manex & Power Marine.

Together, we tackled the famous Chapman’s Peak drive, powered through the coastal headwinds, and celebrated the spirit of endurance and camaraderie that makes both cycling and sailing so exhilarating.

Balance Catamarans is pleased to announce it will be debuting the first Balance 442 catamaran at the International Multihull Boat Show in La Grande Motte, France, from April 3- 7th.

She is a stunning catamaran with ecologically sourced bamboo veneers on her hand-made catamarans.

Press Demonstration sails for the 442 can be booked through Alain Hamel, Balance’s exclusive French representative.

Demo sails may be organized prior to the boat show for sails and inspections in Canet-en-Rousillon, France, or they may be organized to take place either before or after the International Multihull Show, by appointment with Alain at: alain@balancecatamarans.com

Caribbean Multihull Challenge: It’s Time for the Ultimate Sailing Experience!

The allure of the Caribbean, with its azure waters and warm breezes, has always been a beacon for sailing enthusiasts worldwide. If you’re a sailing aficionado or simply someone eager to witness the majesty of catamarans dancing on the waves, the Caribbean Multihull Challenge is an event you won’t want to miss. In this blog post, we’ll delve into the details of this exciting event, explore the participation of Balance Catamarans, and highlight the unique blend of racing and rallying that awaits in the Caribbean waters.

Race & Rally Overview

From February 1st to 4th, 2024, the Caribbean Multihull Challenge will unfold over four thrilling days. Racing sailors are in for an extra treat this year, with CSA 1 featuring three Distance Races for the coveted Trifecta Award, alongside two shorter in-shore races. Other CSA classes will engage in four days of inshore racing, including the exciting Round Island Circle Race.

Cruising sailors, on the other hand, will embark on a scenic journey starting in Simpson Bay. From there, they’ll sail to the uninhabited French island of Tintemarre, followed by an overnight stay in Dutch-side Great Bay. The rally will then continue west, circumnavigating French St. Martin, with an upscale marina overnight in Anse Marcel. Gustavia in St. Barth’s will host the participants for an overnight stay on Saturday, concluding with a downwind sail back to Simpson Bay on Sunday, followed by a closing party at the Sint Maarten Yacht Club.

This year’s Caribbean Multihull Challenge introduces a groundbreaking element – Time Trials for Cruising Multihulls. Skippers keen on comparing their speed and skills in a non-racing format can now participate in destination courses with overnight stops at each rally destination. Departing from the usual Racing Rules of Sailing, Time Trials entrants will adhere to regular COLREG’s, providing a fresh and engaging dimension to the event.
